The satin is fluid and high in shine, falling away from the gathered waistband rather than gripping at it. At the hem a deep band of floral lace is set on a curve, its scalloped edge sheer against the skin. Nothing fastens, nothing is lined. Black turns the pairing sharper than the white: put them under a boned corset with a heel and they are eveningwear, worn alone with bare legs they are the quietest thing in the drawer.
